Kenya is known for its stunning landscape, unique wildlife and diverse cultural heritage. But this beauty contrasts sharply with the country's high levels of poverty, violence, homelessness and disease, especially HIV/AIDS. Most Kenyans live below the poverty line of $1 a day and droughts frequently put millions of people at risk. Nevertheless, the unwavering spirit of the African people shines through in their passion for music, dance and art. Today, Kenya is the ultimate destination for adventure travel in Africa. It is one of the finest safari destinations in the world, and the magical character of the country entices travellers to return time after time.
There comes a time when many people look for a new challenge; something that will make a positive difference to the lives of others, that they can be part of with other like-minded people... an experience that encapsulates travel, adventure, the formation of lifelong friendships and immersion in Kenyan culture.
The Safari of the Soul is the ultimate experience for people aged 40 - 60 who are looking for more than just a holiday. This program is for those who are looking for a purposeful experience, to reconnect with what's really important and support the work of World Youth International.
Run in August each year over a three-week period, you'll have the opportunity to immerse yourself in Kenyan culture while making a difference to people's lives. This jam packed adventure will take you to the heart of western Kenya where you will live amongst the local community, interact with the men and women and work on sustainable community development projects.
